During the recent Christmas break, I undertook a massive Yak Shaving session that ended up spanning days.
It started with a new HDMI Amplifier and has ended with you reading this blog, hosted on my own Ubuntu box using Ghost!
I have been using Linux on and off since I was at college (10 or so years ago now) with a guy called Adam. We used to debate the merits of Mandrake (which has since become Mandriva) and Red Hat. This was back in the day when you had to compile your own graphics drivers and the Linux desktop world was pretty horrible.
Fast forward a few years to when I was at university.
I stumbled on this add-on to Firefox today, finally solving an annoyance I’ve had for ages. Ubuntu Jaunty has a great new notification system (not perfect, but certainly a step in the right direction), yet Firefox continued to use its own silly notification in the lower left corner of the screen.
With this add-on the Firefox will utilise the notification system that comes with Ubuntu Jaunty:
